Outside of Collin county’s great school system, safe neighborhoods, and an abundance of recreational opportunities there is also a large amount of outdoor activities. One of the standout features of this region are its beautiful parks, offering children and families a chance to connect with nature, play, and create cherished memories. In this blog, I (and my kids opinions) will take you on a journey through some of the best parks for kids in Collin County; where the little ones can run, jump, and explore to their hearts' content, as well as, some adult activities (anyone like outdoor exercise areas).
1. Myers Park and Event Center
Nestled in the heart of McKinney, Myers Park and Event Center is a sprawling 158-acre oasis that's perfect for kids of all ages. The park offers a wide range of amenities, including playgrounds, hiking trails, and even a fishing pond.

There are miles of paved and unpaved trails for biking, walking, or jogging, providing ample opportunities for exploration. Additionally, the park boasts a serene lake where families can enjoy picnics and bird watching. This is a family favorite because we are able to hike amongst the trees but have the ability to be close to the city amenities we enjoy (coffee in Waters Creek anyone?).

It offers a small, cozy playground with a rustic, old-western feel. Kids can enjoy the imaginative play structures and explore the nearby hiking trails, giving them a sense of adventure while staying close to nature.
5. Shawnee Park & Disc Golf
In Plano, Shawnee Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The park features a large pond with ducks, geese, and turtles, making it a fascinating spot for children interested in wildlife.
